Blacker Drainage Canal Project

The Blacker Canal is an important part of RD 900's internal drainage system, helping convey stormwater and support flood protection throughout the District.

Over time, sections of the canal banks have experienced erosion, reducing bank stability and making routine maintenance more difficult. If left unaddressed, continued erosion could threaten nearby private property and compromise the canal's ability to safely convey stormwater.

To address these concerns, RD 900's construction contractor is rebuilding the canal banks to prevent further erosion, protect nearby private property, and improve access for ongoing maintenance and inspections.

The vacant lot is being used as a temporary staging area for construction equipment, materials, and project operations. Utilizing this space allows the contractor to complete the work safely and efficiently while minimizing impacts to the surrounding community.

This project is part of RD 900's ongoing commitment to maintaining reliable flood control infrastructure, protecting public and private property, and ensuring the long-term performance of the District's drainage system.
